New Cryptoasset reporting rules – Jan 2026

From 1st January 2026 if you provide cryptoasset services in the UK, you’ll have new responsibilities for collecting data and reporting it to HMRC.

Failing to provide accurate info could mean a penalty, additional fines, and account restrictions. ❌

This is because the UK is introducing the Organisation for Economic Development (OECD) Cryptoasset Reporting Framework (CARF), and extending it to include domestic reporting.

If you use a UK cryptoasset service, you can find out what information users will need to provide.
