Did you furlough staff between 1st July and 30th October – claim deadline is imminent!

All Job Retention Scheme claims for periods before 1st November 2020 need to be made by 30th November 2020.

For furlough from 1st March 2020 through 30th June 2020 (full furlough with minimum 21 day furlough requirement), and claims for government grant application were required by 31st July 2020.

For flexible furlough (including continuing full furlough) from 1st July through to 30th October 2020, and grant claim application must be made by 30th November 2020.

Some employers have missed these deadlines and failed to receive grant funding.

And for each month from November through January, you must make the claim within 14 days of the month end. Claims for November related furlough must be made by the 14th December 2020.

For the phase 3 extended flexible furlough (commencing 1st November 2020), there is no requirement for former furlough and can include new employees as long as reported on RTI FPS to HMRC by 30th October 2020.

Make sure your claims are on time.

Opinion

The timing of grant claim application is very tight, especially for variable hours employment where timesheet capture is essential and pay is generally in arrears. Employers need to ensure fast and accurate work time data collection if operating flexible furlough, else they may find they are disqualified from receiving CJRS grant funding.
