Help us make it possible for all UK workers to ask for time off to volunteer and help their communities.
A number of charitable organisations who are dependent on volunteers such as Scouts, Sea Cadets, Girlguiding, and St John Ambulance, is calling on the UK government to give all employees 35 hours of paid volunteer leave each year!
They’ve sent a letter to Prime Minister Keir Starmer to explain why this is so important.
This change would make it easier to:
• Support local charities, youth groups, and community projects
• Volunteer during lunch breaks, work hours, or special events
• Give back to great causes—without losing pay!
With 35 hours of paid volunteer leave, more people can step up and make a difference in their communities.
They’ve also launched a petition so you can have your say! Sign now and show your support:
Why volunteer?
According to the Scout Association, there are over 100,000 young people in the UK who are on waiting lists to join Scouts.
For these young people to learn life-changing skills and go on amazing adventures, we need more volunteers.
Scouts alone is looking for 40,000 more incredible people to step up and volunteer. While having fun and gaining new skills themselves. No experience of Scouts is needed, or technical skills.
Helping out just once a just once a week can could help 12 young people gain skills for life.
