P45 & P60 stationery being withdrawn

HMRC are to withdraw the facility for employers to order blank P45s and P60s from 1st August 2020. The HMRC forms were provided free of charge.

Only 3% of employers ordered HMRC provided stationery in 2019. Most employers either print their own P45s using A4 plain paper black and white images, or use approved P60 substitute forms. Some purchase propriety forms provided by stationery suppliers and their payroll software providers.

Employers who utilise the free HMRC forms will need to ensure that their payroll software is enabled to provide the appropriate self print forms.
