The Coronavirus pandemic has triggered an unprecedented economic crisis. Despite the government’s measures to protect businesses and jobs, we have seen a dramatic spike in unemployment. While the economy is gradually unlocking, it is increasingly clear that the legacy of the crisis will be with us for years to come.
The Employment and Skills Convention 2020 will focus on how we can get Britain back to work. How we can reverse the rise in unemployment and help people back into decent work? What can we do to prevent youth unemployment and a long-term scarring impact on young peoples’ opportunities? What role can skills play in the recovery? How can we prevent a deepening of regional inequalities, and drive a levelling up after the crisis?
