Cleaners targeted to check their wages

HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) are targeting contact with those employed in the cleaning sector making them aware of their employers National Minimum Wage obligations.

‘Are you, or someone you know, working in the cleaning sector on the National Minimum Wage?’

The HMRC are highlighting that ‘Unpaid working hours and workers having to pay for items they need in connection with their job are some of the most common causes of underpayment’.

National Minimum Wage rates and age changes
applied to pay periods commencing from 1st April 2021

They are asking those who believe they are being underpaid to report this to HMRC via an online form.
