Pay HMRC on-time

Employers are being reminded that for the HMRC payment for November 2026, the electronic payment deadline falls on Sunday 22nd November 2026.

Employers who pay via BACs or other payment methods which do not transact on weekends need to make sure their payment for the October 2026 (6th October through 5th November 2026) tax month payment reaches HMRC on time with funds cleared into HMRC’s account by Friday 20th November 2026.

For those using methods that pay on weekends, such as faster payment, these can still be made by Sunday 22nd November 2026.

It is the employers responsibility to make sure their payments are on time and, if the payment is late, HMR. may be charged a penalty backdated to 19th November 2026.

Employers are urged to check their bank or building society’s single transaction daily value limits and cut-off times well in advance of making the payment.

Employers may need to make sure they know when to initiate payments, so it reaches HMRC on time.

And what about payments in 2027

During 2027 the following payment deadlines fall on weekends and employers may need to ensure that payments are credited on the prior banking date if their payment method does not pay on weekends:

  • Saturday 22nd May 2027, payment due by Friday 21st May 2027
  • Sunday 22nd August 2027, payment due by Friday 20th August 2027
