So with a new change of government, we see a whole group of new government ministers and welcome many new MPs to the house of commons.
Consequently, HMRC has prepared a guide to give advice for these new (and any prior) MPs and Ministers about their personal tax and National Insurance contributions (NICs).
A new updated version of Self Assessment: tax and National Insurance contributions guide for MPs and ministers (SA102MPM1) was published on Monday 8th July 2024.
It provides details on:
- Contact details for tax enquiries
- Self Assessment
- Taxable benefits from your office
- Employer responsibilities (as MP will form their own office with staff)
- Capital Gains Tax on residencies
- Deferment of Class 1 NICs on multiple employments
- Digital updates and briefings
