Next up is the short update from Jenni Morris on National Minimum Wage.

Increasingly employers are falling foul of NMW compliance with limited understanding of complex obligations.

NMW is not about the pay rate, it’s about the rate of pay received.

She went on to describe the risk areas and how salaried workers can be a problem.

Often the calculation do not seem logical?

Of the 82 companies that Jenni has been involved with over the past year, it was indicated that 90% were in breach of NMW.

If you have a worker working excess hours without permission and knowledge of the employer then that should be a disciplinary matter.
