Budget 2025 – Veterans NIC relief extended

Extend employer National Insurance contributions veteran’s relief 

In April 2021, a National Insurance contributions (NICs) relief for employers that hire former members of the UK regular armed forces was introduced.

This brought in an NIC category of ‘V’.

The veteran’s relief was due to end on 5‌‌‌th April‌‌‌ 2026 but the government have announced that it will now be extended for a final two years, until the 2027 to 2028 tax year

The new end date is 5th April 2028.

This allows employer to save the 15% employer NIC contribution. The veteran continues to pay standard National Insurance Contributions.
